| Following are some of the
most frequently asked questions:
|
|
|
Q. |
How much do you
charge? |
|
A. |
That depends on
the time of year, travelling distance and how long the
event lasts. |
|
|
Q. |
Do you sing as
a vocalist? |
|
A. |
No! I dont sing
solely as a vocalist, but I do sing lots of songs on
Karaoke, and I will sing a few songs to get people in
the mood if necessary! |
|
|
Q. |
Is there anything
you need from me? |
|
A. |
Thank you for
asking, and yes there is! I need the following and will
appreciate if you can make sure they are available from
the particular venue: |
|
|
1. |
Access to at least 2 electrical
points within 10 Meters of where I will set up my equipment.
Any distance between electrical points and my equipment
must not be in the path of guests attending the event.
Please note that I will not link my equipment through
an in-house system as this could cause damage to my
equipment, or theirs! |
|
|
2. |
At least 12’ width and
8’ height for my equipment. If my equipment is to be
set up on a stage it is important that I have this space
without restriction as I have previously had to set
my equipment up on the floor as the ceiling was too
low to set it up on the stage. Bear in mind that some
stages have wooden plinths that cover the curtain rails.
Please make sure that these are above the required height
I have stated so as not to obstruct my lighting equipment. |
|
|
3. |
Access to the Venue at
least 2 hours previous to the start of the event so
that I can set up and test my equipment. I may need
more if the Venue is not on ground level or if I have
to carry my equipment down long corridors etc. |
|
|
Q. |
Is there anything
I need to be aware of? |
|
A. |
Yes there is.
Written Consent from the venue owners, if you require
me to use a Fog/Haze machine to enhance my lighting
equipment. Haze is not deemed to be
an irritant and is normally unseen by guests until lighting
equipment is used, but you need to be aware of this
in case any of your guests suffer from asthma, etc,
as I cannot take responsibility for any discomfort caused
to guests. I will refrain from using my Fog/Haze machine
unless permission has been obtained, and will stop using
it if requested by the host on the night, but this will
affect the overall atmosphere of an event! I do
not use strobe lights to prevent discomfort
to those who might suffer from epilepsy. |
|
|
Q. |
Do you have insurance? |
|
A. |
Yes. Equipment
insurance and £5m Public Liability Insurance. |
|
|
Q. |
Is your equipment
safe? |
|
A. |
Yes. All my
equipment is regularly PAT (Portable Appliance Test)
tested. |
|
|
Q. |
When should
I place my booking? |
|
A. |
As early as
possible. This ensures that you get a definite booking
for that particular day. However, late bookings may
be possible due to cancellations caused by unforeseen
circumstances, etc. |
|
Q. |
Will you play
song requests & can I bring my own music? |
|
A. |
Yes to both.
You can inform me of favourite songs before hand and
I will also play song requests from your guests on the
night as long as it is appropriate at the time. If it
isn’t appropriate, I will try to play it later! Also
you can bring your own CD’s if you want to and I will
play these along with some of my own music. Please beaware
that my music collection is vast and I usually have
it anyway! |
|
Q. |
When do I pay? |
|
A. |
A deposit is required
at least 30 days prior to the event by cheque, Paypal
or Postal Order. I will inform you of the amount that
needs to be paid. Final payment can be paid by cheque
(at least 14 days before the start of the event), Postal
Order or online through Paypal prior to the start of
the event. Alternatively, final payment (if payment
has not already been made) must be made in cash
at the start of the event. If you make a late
booking less then 14 days before the event then I cannot
accept cheques, a cash/paypal/postal order deposit and
/or balance in full would be due, sorry. |
|
Q. |
Can we extend
the finishing time of the event? |
|
A. |
Yes, but be
aware that all venue owners are bound by licensing laws.
Allowing an extension should only be permitted if their
licence allows this. I cannot be held responsible for
any breaches of such laws. Please inform me as early
as possible if you want to extend the time e.g. so that
I don’t start playing slow music to end the evening
and then have to alter the mood again to the surprise
of your guests! I will inform you of any extra charge
which must be paid in advance. Please be aware that
the venue owners may require extra payment also. Of
course I am not responsible for this. |
|
Q. |
How will you
dress on the night? |
|
A. |
You tell me!
I usually dress in smart casual clothes, or I can wear
a suit. The choice is yours. |
|
Q. |
Will you price
match? |
|
A. |
I will consider
price matching, but you must provide proof of a reputable
quote and I reserve the right not to. However, I will
not match a quote from your pal's best mate as he/she
may lack the skills and the equipment to warrant a price
match! |
|
Q. |
Do you carry
spare equipment? |
|
A. |
It would be
impractical to carry two of everything but I do carry
some spare equipment, that is the parts that I am most
likely to have a problem with. It is rare to have a
problem with anything other than bulbs etc as I update
or replace my equipment regularly. |
